Challenge Title: The Great Escape
Hostess: understandblue aka Lydia Fiedler
Keyword: HYCCT31
Date: Sunday, October 31st, 2010
Well, all good things must come to an end, and so today, we have our very last Hope You Can Cling To Challenge. It's been an incredible month, with more than 1700 gallery entries (and counting) of some of the most beautiful things we've ever seen! You have brought a lot of joy into the lives of the patients and families at MD Anderson, and you should all give yourselves a round of cyber applause.
So as we say goodbye, we have a very, very special challenge for you, with a prize sponsored by our friends at Etsy.com.
Everybody needs a great escape every now and then. For most of us, crafting is our great escape from the stresses of life. Etsy is built on the labors of talented crafters like each of you, and their Treasury lists are collections of beautiful items that hold a ton of inspiration. I've spent many a happy hour in the Treasury, and it's a high crafty honor to be featured in one.
Your task today is to go to Etsy and choose one of their beautiful Treasury lists for your inspiration. Post a link to the Treasury list you chose in your card description and here in the chatter thread. When you go to their Treasury page, you can search the Treasury lists in the search box at the top right. For example, you can type in "pink" (or, in my case, blue ) or "wood" or anything that strikes your fancy.
And here's the best part.
Everyone who has completed all of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges, including this one of course, will be entered in a drawing for a $250 Etsy shopping spree!!
How's that for a happy ending??
So let's spend our Halloween getting crafty, shall we?
I chose this Treasury list for my inspiration. To find it, I searched "books" and just LOOK at those items! Wow.
It's like it was made for me! These are all of my favorite things when I need a great escape.
So enjoy browsing these little crafty wonders - I can't wait to see what you pick!

Cool!! That's some generous prize from Etsy.
Off to have fun browsing and letting some ideas percolate through my brain.
I might start out with your books - you should see our shelves .
Way to go Lydia, has been a big month, and I only have this card to make to have done all of the challenges, a few more to upload, but it has been fab... thanks for being the Queen Bee!!

It has been a fun month even if I don't have all the challenges done. Wasn't sure I would be getting them all done but now seeing the fabulous prize for doing them all, I will be busting my butt to! Thanks for a fun filled inspiring month, Lydia.
Here is my final submission!!! HYCCT31 Soccer Escape by terry serman - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
This has been really fun. I am going to the post office tomorrow and sending MD Anderson a box of 50 cards (I made duplicates of some of my challenge cards). I entered 'soccer' in the Etsy treasury site, and came up with tons of cute items I will probably get my daughter for Christmas. I choose one of the sites to link with my gallery card.
What a wonderful final challenge, Lydia! I got off track a couple weeks ago when I had guests in from out of town, but I'm determined to get back on track and complete this and all my other remaining challenges over the next few days!
I guess the most honest thing I can say is that these types of challenges are my absolute least favorite to try to do - I can't seem to see a card off of catalog pages but I'll do my best ... later.

muzbysmom.........It is difficult to get those creative juices flying at first. But, once you start opening those wonderful pages......you will be amazed what pops in your head.
For example, the first page I chose under my topic and I saw a fabric that had polka dots.......and immediately, I thought of using my impression plate with polka dots for my background.......I'll try to use the colors on that page and then maybe a flower for one of the other pictures....dripping honey reminded me of something wet and glistening......I could use Diamond Glaze........etc.
You may have to look at several of the pages, but I'm betting you have something in your stash of stamps that a picture will remind you of. I'm sure you will come up with something fabulous!
Lydia.........Just a big shout out to you for such a wonderful job. I'm fairly new to SCS and stamping and I can't even begin to tell you how much these challenges have pushed me to try something new......AND learn so much from doing so.
I just love this last challenge! I've avoided "inspiration" type challenges thus far, so you are "pushing" me, once again. I found so many neat ideas, already!!!

That's why Etsy treasury lists rock! Type "cards" or "letterpress" in the search and you'll get more inspiration than you know what to do with!

I can't wait to get started.
How cool is that?? Well welcome and thank you! I wish I had discovered the challenge forum earlier in my Splitcoast life. it really does keep you on your creative toes and I love that!
It's been a wonderful month. I've enjoyed participating so much and I'm sorry it's ending. However, it's inspired me to look for new challenges with a purpose as I am an avid believer in creating for a cause.
My inspiration for the card is here Pilgrim Chick Figurine Pair by Abbybelle on Etsy
I have really enjoyed this month of challenges. I started off the month with mostly pink cards, but I have strayed out of the pink as the month progressed. This "treasure hunt" card is my final card, having finally caught up yesterday. I will get all my cards into the mail tomorrow. Here's today's card --
Goodness, I could have spent hours in Etsy this morning. It made me realise something, too; as Stephanie says, I also used to find inspiration challenges the hardest, and it was an eye-opener as to how much I have learned from doing the IC challenges each week to see how much inspiration I found this morning when left to find it myself instead of having it dished up by Stef.
Thank you, Lydia.
Here's my Pink Romance - but I have "Never judge a book by its cover" bookmarked to come back to another day.
Lydia, I almost fell off my chair when I read your post. That is such a generous generous gift certificate for an SCS-er to receive.
This is my last and final contribution to the challenges. (YEP, I did them all.)
I will be mailing my last package of cards tomorrow.
I am excited to think how many wonderful cards will be sent to Texas. This challenge was such a wonderful thing to do for others. Lydia, thanks to you and the hostesses for such a great event.
WOW! What a great site. I will have to play after my friend's fund raiser for her husband who has cancer. I'm helping out & I even made a tote bag/purse for the silent auction. I've picked out several inspirations for me too.
Wow, Lydia, what a truly AMAZING prize. I am on track to finish all the challenges so my name will be in the hat. I must admit that I am a little overwhelmed to go to Etsy but I will follow your directions for my journey and see where the inspiration leads me.
going to go browse, be inspired and make my card! What a great prize! So excited to have done ALL the challenges this month, I just have a few more to get uploaded.
Will you have a place/thread for us to indicate we've done all the challenges for HYCCT?

Here is my last card for the challenges. This was my first time looking through the Treasury lists but it won't be my last. What a great place for inspiration. Will be mailing my cards on Tuesday. Thanks for a great month of challenges.
I am sooooooooooo excited to share my LAST card!!!
Once again..........Thanks for the "push"! I needed this and the creative juices were flowing.
Here is my Thank You Inspiration card for this challenge. I've attached my collage that gave me the inspiration....You'll see my inserted pink arrows to show you exactly why my card ended up how it did. Here is the direct link (if you'd rather have that): Etsy Inspiration
Lydia........I'm going nuts over here, because I'm only counting 32 challenges (since we didn't have one for the 1st of the month). I've checked and double checked with your tracking sheet and I'm still only coming up with 32 cards. The thread that we post that we finished them all says......33.......Am I missing something (which I could be)??? Help!
Well I think my friend's fund raiser went ok, we raised about $6,000.00 for her husband who has cancer. I ended up giving away 2 of my quilted tote bags, they went for $45.00 each for the silent auction. Anyways, here's my patchwork dots card that I was inspired by a quilt of course: HYCCT31 Patchwork Dots by stamp300 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
After trick or treating, I'll be back at my card making table to make 2 more because I want to send them all tomorrow.
And now I'm sitting here in awe of all these challenges and feeling so very honored to be a small part of this amazing event!! I'm packaging all of them up and they will be mailed out tomorrow!!!
Ole cannole!!!! I just got home from work and fired up the PC to see what kinda fun I can have before beddy bye....What a wonderful prize....now off to the treasury....
