Craft Fair Display

I have a craft fair coming up for which I desparately need ideas for display. I will be sharing a table with my daughter-in-law who makes beautiful jewelry and we are allowed a 6 ft table space. I believe I will need to "go vertical" as much as possible. I will be making diecut, layered embellishments for scrapbooking and card making (flowers, butterflies, snowflakes, etc). I package these in cellos or clear envelopes and am thinking of a "clip it up" type display, but am not sure what to clip to, etc.
My hubby could probably make something although there isn't a lot of time left before the craft fair. Any and all ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

if he is good at making thing have hin make like a ladder type thing and run wire or string side to side to hang your cello

Just a thought .... how about a couple of big picture frames with nails nailed into the back (evenly spaced of course) and tie wire around these like a ladder effect.

The frames then can be clamped directly to the table or propped up in front of boxes covered in material. Some frames already come with a standing thingy (I know technical term LOL!!) attached to the back or perhaps DH could add a hinge panel to the frame for you.

Use bulldog clips to clip your bags to the wire.

I have seen people who do the folding closet door type thing- the ones with slats and then items are hung from the slats. My other thought is a room divider that you could customize to display your items...

Bingo...I was thinking the same thing! 2, 3 or 4 large picture frames hinged together makes a great display. You can pick up junk stuff at garage sales all the time super cheap and hinge things together. Just take out the ugly picture and put a piece of peg board in there and buy the pegs and hang things this way. I also have seen people make these with shutters from Home Depot or wherever.

Going vertical is definitely the way to go when space is limited. I was super lucky that my friend sold me her wire grids she bought when a scrapbooking store was going out of business so when we do a fair, we always go vertical and hang stuff. It makes a booth look very nice and gives you tons more space.

Also, dont forget just the wonders of boxes placed under the tablecloth to add more height and dimension to your display.

My favorite display ever was a faux Christmas tree made by a friend's grandmother to showcase her Christmas ornaments.

Her husband found some fallen branches about 2" in diameter, cut them between 3 and 5 feet long, and mounted them to traditional wooden X-shaped bases. Then he drilled holes along the "trunk" to receive the wire branches she made with old fake trees. You could easily do the same using dowels, small branches, or pegs for the branches. Use some pegs to hang product and others to hold evergreen or fall leaf floral picks. If your family is handy, you may already have all the necessary pieces.

I could easily see one or two tall (4 to 5 feet tall) trees next to or behind your table, holding your larger paper crafting products and one small tree (two feet tall) on top of the table holding jewelry. Or if drilling all those holes would be too much, you could skip most of the branches, stick a faux shrub on top, hang twine between two of them like a clothesline, and clip your products to it with small clothespins.

A set of shutters hinged together, you could use paper clips unfolded for hooks or use Christmas ornament hooks. Sometimes you can pick up shutters or bi-fold doors at yard sales or thrift shops.

I once bought 2 pairs of shutters the plastic kind at Home Depot for putting on the outside of your house, re-inforced them with wood rails I screwed onto the inside,hinged them together and made a folding check out station with a piece of masonite on the top. You could just eliminate the top. It really worked out pretty cool. They could then be set on top of the table.

Do you have any floor space? If you do, you could buy a couple of grid walls, hook them together with zip ties and hang things on those. You can also get shelves for the grid walls.

I often use the wire cubes you put together. I use the inside and top of the cube to showcase stuff and the sides to hang things off.

I've seen someone turn old lampshade frames into a clip it up that would rotate (You Tube I think). Then either paper clips or small bulldog clips to hang the items, or the clips for hanging curtains that you get from Ikea.

You can get peg board at Lowes or Home depot, I bought one big piece that is 4 x 8 foot and had them cut it into three 2.5 foot x 4 pieces *they do this for free. my husband bought hinges and put it together. It folds shut and fits in my SUV. However the four foot tall may be too tall for some craft shows, I think they have limits and it is cumbersome to carry. I think I would cut it down to 3 feet tall. (OH also you can buy these already finished in white, so you don't have to paint, and get the thicker ones, the flimsy ones don't stand up straight)

To add to what Michelle posted, you can reinforce the back with some 1 x 2's along the edges -- this will give it more stablility. My dad did one of these for me years ago when i was selling counted cross stitch pictures. I've recycled that pegboard into a number of different pieces. I've also been tempted to do a pegboard cube and put a lazy-susan base on it.

I use a 4' x 2' display rack that I purchased at Displaystogo.com. It has stabalizing feet that span a 3' space. I attached small binder clips at appropriate intervals and hang my artwork on it using tiny coathangers that fit through the loops of the binder clips. Clothespins would work nicely to hold your cello bags. The rack comes in a 6' version as well.

If your craft show is at a school, request that your table be in front of lockers. I used magnetic hooks on the lockers to hang craft items behind me. It worked great! The other crafters were all jealous, and the next year they were doing it, too!

Chicken wire is cheap (around $7 for a 24" x 6' roll at Home Depot) and can be stapled inside a picture frame or a basic frame made from lumber to make a vertical rack. Clothespins, s-hooks or paper clips would all work to hold things to it. I'm in the process of making a similar thing for the walls on either side of my window in my studio. I'm not to photo-ready phase yet, or I'd post a couple of pics. I've attached a thumbnail of a tabletop one I saved from somewhere so you can get the idea...

This site has literally more ideas than you could ever use for ways to display jewelry, which your daughter might find helpful. But there may also be ideas that you can adapt for your own craft displays.

I use old picture frames too. They work great for cards. I also use them to hang jewelry on. Buy nylon window screen material from a hardware store, tack it in using thumb tacks or a stapler and hand necklaces or earrings on for display. Looks great on a wall or displaying at a craft show.
