TLC293 ~ Youre The Splitting Image..~ (10/04/10)
Hello, stampers!
Did you all have a nice weekend? Did you partake in the World Card Making Day events? Since this is our first challenge in October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Im going to add a little twist at the end of our challenge today.
~ Youre The Splitting Image~
Years ago I worked in an office and we had these grouped wall hangings. They were essentially one picture split into three frames. Remember when those were popular? I may be dating myself..LOL
Our challenge today is to split your image. Cut it in two, or three, or four. And so on. Make it a puzzle or a mosaic or use just a piece of it, or whatever clever idea you can come up with!
Now, here is my *extra* challenge. Im pretty sure that there is not one of us who has not been touched by breast cancer (or any cancer for that matter). Today Im asking you to make your card for someone who is either a)battling cancer b) a cancer survivor or c) a caretaker of a cancer patient. It can be humorous, uplifting, or anything your recipient would enjoy. If you really dont know anyone who fits into that category, you might try checking out the Need A Lift forum here on SCS.
I made my card today for my aunt Marcis doctor (oncologist). She is an amazing woman who cares deeply about her patients. When we go to Marcis appointments, Bev (she insists we call her by her first name) talks TO Marci instead of AT her. She is a large reason that my Aunt Marci is still with us after 8+ years of battling.
How funny! I was just thinking of making one of these earlier today!! I actually made one a couple of weeks ago (never got a chance to upload it here):
ohhh..., this was a lot of fun to play along with. I took the challenge literally, splitting my robot open to share his lovely big heart with a friend currently going through treatment for lymphoma. Here's his front and then, his open heart
Thanks for the challenge!
Mim

What a super idea Holly..............cancer is so awful and so many people are battling it ... I lost my mother-in-law, my aunt, 2 best friends and my dad to this horrendous disease.............. I'm the transport for another dear friend as she fights ovarian cancer.........she's survived a double masectomy.......... Her oncologist is a wonderful man.......VERY tall,,,,,,,,wears a turban every day and gives the biggest hugs in the world.........even to those of us not sick. The nursing staff at the chemo center is super too. Good for you............
Will be back to play !
HUGS

Hi, Holly.......thanks for another challenge that made me think in a new direction. The "Split Image" is something I just don't seem to think of on my own. It does add interst where a solid panel might seem "blah". I enjoyed combining your challenge with the CAS one for today. Thanks for another fun Monday!
Wohoo! I was just playing for CAS87 and did split my image for an effect when I saw that this week's TLC challenge is splitting image. I'm happy when that happens (I know you are, too).
I like doing this with images, and had to find the time to make something today.
I hope it's OK for the little extra challenge if I put it into the HYCCT challenges and send it off to the MD Anderson Cancer Centre. Peony Panel
What a fun challenge and your story was very touching!! After reading it I got right to work. And for once I remembered about the no Sunday upload. I really do need to become a member.. lol. Anyways, here's mine and I hope everyone is having a great day.
Hugs!
Excellent pun, Wanda! Here's a card that took me halfway into the night to color (total amateur) but my friend Patti is completely worth it. I did hesitate a few moments about splitting the image after the coloring session. The Sound of Cat's Dreaming by splicedcenterstamp at Splitcoaststampers

I used one of the beautiful rose images for the postcards and cut it out with a new spellbinders die, split it with pearls across and some prima flowers and leaves and gold peel off borders. I have been asked where to get the borders, they are from POP-UP, FOLD-em templates - Outline peel-off stickers and his service is wonderful, scroll down to the picture of the shopping cart on the right and click there to see the peel offs. Here is mine.
I thought of this right away when I saw this challenge. The overall card still needs a little work. Maybe I'll do another one. That other piece of More mustard cardstock was still on my table, so that started my color pallet. Fun challenge!
