WELCOME TO TEAPOT TUESDAY
THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TEAPARTY
AND CHALLENGE #114
TURN OFF THAT COMPUTER! HERE COMES THE RECRUITER!
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you!
Before I get started with the story, I have a request. From time to time I like to communicate with the teapotters (aka ~ anyone who plays in a Teapot Tuesday Challenge). You never know when I might have some important teapotter announcements. If you would like to be included please email me at [email protected] with your email address and I will add you to the Teamail Group!
This is my story!
1. Rut Roh! The time has come! We pretty much can't fly by the seat of our pants anymore! Its time to buckle down, cover up that frown, and travel outa town! One look at this teapot and you get a pretty good idea of what we are up against! After Tuesday you will never think of a computer as the place where all your friends live again! Instead you will be head of your very own IT Department with all the computer skills and knowledge of that six year old that showed you up at the library! Since the inception of Teapot Tuesday, 42,000 teapots ago, I honestly can say this might be the first time I have bitten off more than I (or should I say you) can chew! Our mission is to share our vast knowledge and unlimited computer skills with a Geek Squad Recruit! Here's how I got us into this jam!
2. Deke is adorable, delightful and sweet! Deke is so innocent, timid and meek! Deke is just precious, he's friendly and fun! Deke is in trouble, turns out he's quite dumb! In pursuit of a more respectable career, Deke sent his resume in, applied for and secured an interview with a recruiter from The Meek Squad! His whole life people have been calling him meek and he was thrilled to know that a meek person could make big bucks and drive a cool car as a member of the The Meek Squad!
3. Here's the skinny, Minnie! Minnie is the bright one who googled The Meek Squad and discovered its really The Geek Squad! Deke is quite meek but its a geek that they seek! Here comes the recuiter, turn off that computer! He can't see the recruiter until he hires a tutor! I know what you are thinking, that we might just be sinking! No worries just yet, did you forget? We're having tea with Bill Gates and all of his mates! We'll each have a tutor and our own little puter! Just do your best on the skill level test. Remember the stuff we shoved up our cuff? Well, don't lose your head, here's what the stuff said:
Bytes = What we take outa cupcakes.
Megabytes = What we take outa cupcakes when we are really hungry!
Monitor = The person we have to tell when we gotta go potty.
Mouse = Duh! You know, like Minnie, the one who googled!
Software = Slippers
Hardware - Stilettos
Chip = They are sometimes in cookies!
Control Panel = Fancy term for girdle!
Hard Drive = When the teaparty is far away.
Scrolling = What we did when we learned how to fish!
Standalone = What we do when we forget our deodorant!
Thumbnail = A tool for distressing!
Widget = Sally Field when she was young.
Debug - DeThing DaMudder squished!
4. If we can pull one over on Bill Gates and his mates then we can pull one over on the Geek Squad Recuiter! Then Deke, the Meek, can become quite the Geek and be happy as we speak!! Bring what you know about computers! Yes, you can use the cheat sheet above! And if you are still quite convinced that your friends live in your computer then just bring the shape of their house with something special on the screen!!
If you embarrass us and blow up your computer then you have to come in the back door. And while you are back there, check to see if you tripped on the cord and the back door is unplugged!
If you choose to send your card to this week's destination please do not use glitter. See why below!
Teapot Tuesday Destination Station #114:
This week's destination is Afghanistan. We are sending our cards to a fellow SCSer's son who recently began his deployment there.
Lisa Lara's 20 year old son Kyler, signed up for the Marines when he was still in High School. As a matter of fact, he will be celebrating his 21st birthday during his deployment in Afghanistan. We are sending him our cards to thank him, encourage him, keep him company, and wish him well during his time in a place very far from home. Kyler is a Tactical Network Software Specialist for the Marines. He grew up in the Redmond, WA area where Microsoft originated! (Bill Gates) Go figure!
And now about the glitter. If you chose to send your card to Kyler:
NO GLITTER ON YOUR CARDS PLEASE!
Glitter gets on soldiers clothes and makse them visable at night! Not a good thing! Also, your cards/envelopes should be fairly flat if you chose to send your card to Kyler. Please limit the amount and height of pop-ups, 3D flowers and such. Bumpy and bulky envelopes mean less mail can be packed into a shipment - it also may mean that your card could be opened to determine what is in it. Shoot for flat, something requiring no extra postage for lumps.
For more information and Kyler's address see
Post #137 of the
Teapot Tuesday Destination Station thread should you decide to send a card to this brave and amazing young man. Thank you Kyler! Please remember that just because you participate in a Teapot Tuesday challenge that is combined with a card drive request, it does not mean that you are REQUIRED to send your cards. It is strictly voluntary.
Here is
