TLC286 ~ Anything but a bow or knot!! ~ (08/16/10)
Hello everyone!!! It's my turn to host the TLC challenge today and I think you are going to like it...especially if you are a ribbon addict like me!!!
How many of you have a stash of ribbon pieces that you can't bring yourself to throw away because you might need them one day?? Well, ladies, today is the day to use them!!!
We are going to find ways to use ribbon besides the standard bow or knot!!
I have a tutorial for you on Ribbon Butterflies....they use less that two inches of ribbon and look sooo cute!!
You can make ribbon butterflies, ribbon flowers, ribbon weaving, ribbon borders...you can even scrunch it, bunch it, or pleat it.....the sky is the limit!!!
Holly sent me the link to a Splitcoast tread that has lots of inspiration, too....check it out here.
Joan, can't wait to try this......off to pick some ribbon......then decide what to do with it! LOL Thanks for the challenge.

Here's my card for the challenge Joan. Great idea here........I really had to play around with different treatments until I decided on this one. Thanks for helping me stretch my creativity.

Fun challenge, Joan. I really didn't do anything too clever since I wanted to combine challenges this AM. If I have time, I'll come back with a more creative ribbon card. Thanks for leading the challenge today!
And........when you have spent an hour trying to figure out what you can do with it besides tying it in a bow, you can roll it back up on the spool! That is a technique, I can handle!!!! This is a fun one Joan! I once made a noose out of cording.....and never put it on a card....maybe that qualifies as *rough* ribbon! What a fun challenge this is!

Anything but a bow or knot, great idea!! Here is mine, I used a butterfly that has been punched out of satin ribbon and the flower in the center is satin ribbon, not sure how they did this but they are gorgeous.

Oh, I LOVE this challenge. I want to try so many of these techniques! The ribbon butterflies are wonderful, I will definitely be doing that one. Here is my first of many "different ribbon" cards
Back again, Joan, with something a little more than just gluing a strip of ribbon on a card! ; ) I've only tried this pleated ribbon once before...and that was a MESS! This time it went a little smoother...perhaps having a wider ribbon helped. Thanks again!

Really gave me a good chuckle..but I have something going, so this will be a good idea on it....thanks a lot Joan for posting this.
I have had some questions on my butterflies that I used from satin ribbon. These are Zva creative butterflies but I can't find them anymore. I assume maybe they are discontinued but you can go to the website and maybe contact them about making more of them. Zva Creative, Blings, Crystals, Self adhesive crystal, scrapbook embellishments maybe that will help.
Thanks for filling in and for such a fun challenge, Joan. I hadn't made a ribbon flower in quite a while. Thanks for giving me a push to do it. I combined this challenge with the Mojo Monday sketch.
