A couple of years ago I created this color swatch ring for my Copic markers.
I took each color marker and made three lines across the tag. I then went back and added another layer of color over the second line and two more layers over the third line. This way I can see the different shades that can be achieved by layering more color of the same marker.
The tags were created with a die using the white cardstock I use most often. I keep them in numerical order on a book ring. I am then able to flip through the ring trying to find the best match to the patterned paper or whatever else I am using. You can see how it works below with patterned paper.
I sometimes still find myself scribbling some colors on scrap but this does come in handy.
I used all my punches, and punched cardstock and put them all on a ring. It is very helpful when figuring out whether a stamp will fit the punched piece. You just hold the c/s and see if it fits.

Michele, when you did the three lines, did you wait a while to come back and do the other layers so the ink could dry? If so, how long did you wait between layers? I think I've heard that if you do the layers while the ink is still dry, the colors just blend and you don't really get different shades. I see that you did get different shades and so I'm wondering whether leaving drying time between layers is the key to success.
Thanks!

This is such a clever idea! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing it. I'm not very type A when it comes to organization, but I'm forever scribbling little samples on scrap paper. This would be so much more useful than the full chart!
Awesome idea, add to my to do list. I just finally printed the sheet from copic on Neela and add which copic, I own so next time I head to the store or am online and I can see if I need another colour lol.
I did not wait for the ink to dry inbetween layering the lines. I did three lines across, then went back and added a second and third line. I did have a few that needed to be redone because they bled together.
You really wouldn't want the lines to dry inbetween because you aren't doing that when you color an image. The object is to keep layering while still wet so it blends good.

What an awesome idea. Thank you so much for sharing. I know this will definitely come in handy. I find that the more Copics I have, the harder it is to choose a colour when I need one, so this is perfect.

This is a fantastic idea!! Thanks for sharing it.
I have been scribbling Copic colors on a scrap of paper each time I want to match DP.
I will make a set of these as soon as possible
Spellbinders "Standard Tag S3-1028" will cut that tag.
Scrap-Mart has it 25% off and free shipping
It is only $ 7.49
You can by just one item from Scrap -Mart and still get free shipping !!
They don't requite you to spend a gazillion dollars
I copied the color chart on Neenah paper as an inventory sheet. But the colors samples are too small to be useful in matching DP.
This sample tags idea is outstanding

I've only have ever bought Nestabilities. Is the S-3 just a single die, that cuts all 3 sizes at once? If so, is there a Nestability one that has multiple tag sizes?

This set has 3 nested( multiple ) sizes of tags. They are individual dies that look and work exactly like the Nestibilities shapes .
Same sandwich to cut and emboss them
I provided the S3-1028 Spellbinder SKU # if you area searching for them on a site other than Scrap-Mart . I provided the link to them on Scrap-Mart
Hope this helps

Ordered. Great price for them, and FREE shipping. Awesome deal. There was another set of tag dies that I had in my cart, but deleted at the last second. In process of a craftroom redo (and I just redid it 5 months ago). Hubby just keeps shaking his head at me saying "Why don't you just decide what you want and stick to it". I'm Gemini, the only thing I have stuck with and not change in my life is being married to him. (30 years and going)
Anyway, I love this idea and can't wait to get my tags to get it started. My Copic collection isn't that big yet (less then 30) so it is a great time to start. Before I have 100+ tags to color in.

Scrap-Mart is the only place I buy Nesties, any Spellbinder stuff, Cuttlebug dies or folders or JustRite things . They all ship free.
I wanted an extra set of Master cutting mats for my Wizard in case mine wear out. You know how heavy those are. I did order a couple of other things at the same time and they were all shipped free.
Great idea! I just bought my first copics this week; it will be great to start out with this system right away. It'll also be handy because I take it with me to the store (or grab it for on-line shopping) and keep myself from purchasing repeats.
I wonder if some enterprising person has made (or is planning to make) something like this to sell... like the cardstock rings for Bazzill, SU, CTMH, etc.
Anyone?

The only problem I see with buying one made by someone else is they may have different Copic colors than I do. I doubt there are many who have all of them. Nor would I want a ring of colors that I don't have . I am trying to buy less not more
I'd love a ring even if it had colors I don't have (but I think I have them all, or at least all the ones available in the past year). I don't have all the colors of cardstock for the rings I have, but I still like looking at them.
I admit that it does lead me to buying, though!
Off to check eBay. I've bought some of my cardstock rings and labels for inkpads & such there, but I never thought to check for Copics.

I was going to order the swatch book but they wanted $35.00 shipping....... That is absolutely ludacris! So this is a fabulous idea. I can add new ones as I buy. I wanted something I could bring with me. Thanks for the great idea......
