Hi....Just received my Stampin Up 2010 catalogue and started making my wish list. I had heard that they would be selling individual Craft ink spots but I see they are only sold in "collections" ( Subtles, Regals etc). I have most of the Craft ink spots and only need the new colors.
I can purchase the craft ink refills individually and had an idea to make my own foam ink pads but I can't find empty/dry foam ink pads on the internet.
(Actually I found one source of full size pads but they were $10.00 each and I had hoped to get something less expensive and not so large)
I found Ranger's Cut n Dry Foam pads but they are not in a plastic container so they would have to be rinsed and dried each time which is a waste of ink.
Does anyone know where I can purchase dry/empty small ink pads for SU Craft (chalk) ink or how I can make them using the Cut n Dry Foam ?

Thanks !!!
SU will be selling empty pads in the holiday catty that you can use craft ink on hth
Thanks so much for rhe information !!!
I can wait as my wish list is so long it will be at least December before I am working on my craft ink supply which is usually the last to get.
Thanks again...I had a look at the blank ink cubes. They are just what I was looking for. Have you used them ? I wonder if they would work with Craft (Chalk/Pigment) ink ? The pads are usually different. Dye (water based) inks usually have a felt-type pad and chalk/pigment inks generally have a foam/sponge type pad.
If you're interested in craft spots in the new colors, please send SU an email asking for them. Spots seem to be the only thing that does NOT have a new color kit and no one wants to buy spots they already own. Personally I do not want to buy all those refills either.
Definitely a great idea. Wonder why they didn't do that? So frustrating!

I just sent them an e-mail voicing my disappointment in the lack of ink spots being sold individually or as a new color set. Hopefully if enough of us voice our disappointment then they will offer it.
I contacted them via the e-mail address at the link below. Hopefully it is the correct one. Is someone knows a better one, please let me know. http://www.stampinup.com/us/enu/7.asp

I haven't used these. What I did was buy the ink pads from the dollar store and removed the pad and cleaned them up. I replaced the pad with this product from Ranger Inkssentials. You can buy either the felt for dye ink or foam for craft ink. Altogether with ink, I think each "spot" cost me about $1.50CDN but it was a lot of work (I did all the in colours and 3 colour families of inks).

That's the same e-mail I used. I pray they are bombarded with requests!

I emailed and did get a response, but the response just said that there are no plans for a new color spot kit at this time and that they would pass my request onto the marketing department. Too bad! Now I have to decide whether to re-buy spots certain spots that I already have by purchasing new color sets, move on to another company for inks and papers, or buy full-sized classic pads in the new colors. Very tough choices, especially because I liked the storage system that I had with the old spots.
Too bad they are not considering the craft ink spots (new colors) at this time. I also asked if they are planning on selling empty/dry CRAFT ink spots so I can make my own with refills. I'll wait to see what to see they say.
SweetSassyDiva mentioned the dry craft ink spots would be available in the holiday caddy. Let's see if SU confirms her info.
I am also disappointed that there is not a 'kit' of the new colors for spots (I was looking for spots in the classic ink). The last time there was a big change with the colors, SU did offer a set of spots of the new colors in classic ink...
I plan to buy empty "spots" and make the colors with reinkers. I jsut prefer the spots to the full sized ink pads. For some reason, I just don't like SU's full sized ink pads. I thought I would, but they bother my hands. I have little hands & they just seem too big for me. I have six of them in two years ago in colors. I just bought reinkers for the last set of in colors. I made my own inkpads with cut n dry foam. They are stored in ziplock bags. I will get a bit mor advanced this year & actually buy the spots & fill them with ink. I am really liking several of the new colors. I don't see why they couldn't offer the ink spots in the new color kits. I'm sure they figure everyone will buy the sets with the full sized inkpads. JIL
I wrote to SU using the link in a previous email to ask if they were going to have a new color kit in Craft ink spots and have not had an answer. It's been about 10 days. Should I wait longer or write again ? I've never written to SU before so I don't know if I should expect an answer.
Thanks
We have been advised that we will not be offering a New Color kit for the Stampin' Spots at this time. We are so very sorry for any disappointment this causes. Please know; however, that even though Demonstrator Support does not decide on or implement change, we have passed your feedback on to the appropriate department responsible for reviewing such requests.
GALE : do you know if SU will be selling full sized felt pads for dye base ink and/or foam pads for craft ink ? I am interested in craft ink pads/spots.
You can buy both foam and felt spots at the above link. I ordered from here last year and the service was exceptional. I am also very disappointed that they will not be doing a "renovation kit" for craft spots.
I clicked on the link to buy foam spots but the shipping to Canada will likely be about $25.00 USD as they will only ship Express Service. This cost is unfortunately out of the question for me.
Does anyone know of another place I can purchase these ? Thanks
Expensive to day the least and the cost will be higher in Canada. Plus I pay 10 % shipping and then 13 % tax so the price will most likely be close to $15.00 for the stamp pad and refill in Canada.
I just went on a search for blank spots to make my own pads with reinkers. The place I used to order from no longer has them. Thanks for providing the links. I've also seen them on ebay but was not successful in finding them this time. If anyone has found them there, I'd appreciate the link.
I have also been searching (in vain) on the internet. Not sure what to "google". I've tried combinations of :foam, dry, empty, ink, pads and stamp. I can't find a link to them either with the exception of the link posted here. Simonsaysstamp has empty full size pads but if I remember correctly they are felt pads.
I am thinking of making my own as simonsaysstamp also has sheets of foam that can be cut. I just need to figure out where to buy the plastic cubes. I think a trip to the local dollar store might have something and I also have a bunch of old stamp pads that I can take the pad out of and replace.
Can anyone else think of a way to make a stamp pad ?
Here's another place where you can buy dry ink spots. They carry both the felt and the foam pad. franticstampers.com Scroll down to inks and under Ranger Inks click on the Cut 'n dry, dry ink pads. They sell for $1.59.
