What is CAS?
CAS is an acronym for Clean and Simple.
There are different ways people view CAS. It is very subjective. There is no list of rules that will fit everyones personal definition. The following are possible guidelines, only. Please do not feel afraid of playing in the CAS challenge or debate with yourself if youve created a CAS card. If it is a CAS card to you, put CAS in the keyword box.
1. Clean: the design is uncluttered with lots of white or open space. Simple: having a clear focal point without a lot going on to detract from it.
OR
2. simple in design regardless of the number of embellishments or how long it takes to color, stitch or to use a special technique
OR
3. can be copied and mass produced fairly quickly usually without a lot of coloring, layers, embellishments, tools and/or techniques
OR
4. any combination of the above
************************************************** ******* CAS Challenge: Shabby Chic Shabby Chic is a style of stamping that includes torn edges, muted colors, and imperfections. In short, it could be characterized as making a new card look old and distressed.
Uploading: Remember the keyword is without spaces. Use a comma between keywords with a space after each comma.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!

Jen, this was a challenging challenge for me....but fun! In my mind "vintage" and "CAS" don't always mesh too well. I'm sure other stampers have done a spectacular job with it, but it is a stumbling block for me since I'm not very good at either of these two styles. Anyway, I had fun.

I agree with Sallie!! This was really hard for me, too, although I enjoyed the challenge! I've been experimenting with vintage/shabby chic lately and have loved trying my hand at it. But CAS shabby chic?? Wow, that's hard! I tried really hard to use shabby chic elements but keep it CAS, and my result just doesn't really click. Looks sorta blah. But I worked hard on it so here's my upload:

CAS67 Shabby Vase & Flowers
HERE is mine. My cardstock is Bazzill Wedding Shimmer; the vase is punched with the ornament punch and the flowers are Primas. I used Flower Soft wire coming out of the vase; added adhesive pearls and we're done.
Thanks for the great challenge this week! Here's my take on shabby chic, inspired by some vintage wallpaper I found on a blog when I googled 'Shabby Chic' for some ideas. TFL! CAS67 My Shabby Chic by kamigh at Splitcoaststampers
