Default TLC259 ~ Frosted Window ~ (02/08/10)

Welcome, Friends!

I am posting a wee bit early tonight . Hope you dont mind

To all my New Orleans Saints fan friends. Congrats!!

Today I am inviting you to try a technique that I came up with. At least I have never seen it done before .

~~ Frosted Window ~~

This is a twist on stamping on vellum. I think the result is awesome!

You will need:

  • Cardstock
  • Vellum
  • Fast drying Ink
  • Stamps
  • Dimensional
  • Coloring medium of your choice

I have attached a word doc that shows the very simple process. I have also included the instructions on my blog, if you prefer (though I did not do this for comments, so please dont feel that you need to comment. It just might be easier for some).

Here is my sample:

~ Frosted Rose ~

When uploading your card or project, please make sure you include the KEYWORD TLC259 (no spaces).

You can find the TLC259 gallery HERE.

I am excited to see what twist you girls will put on this!! Go create!!

Hugs!

Oh Bless you Holly!

I love vellum and it appears I don't need to worry too much about folding!

Folding and I are arch enemies! LOL! although I actually managed a wiper card this weekend! I had to watch Beate's Utube about 4 times though!

I'll think on this at work tomorrow and post my creation later in the week. This one is WAY more to my abilities YEAH!!

Sorry if I'm dumb.. but I don't want to assume. When you say "dimensionals" are these like pop dots or some sort of adhesive that pops up but adheres your paper? Just making sure. whenever I assume, it's ALWAYS wrong so I have learned NEVER to assume.

I'm getting you want to attach but provide a space between your frame and the vellum/image under it. right?

I wasnt' sure I was going to get this uploaded before leaving for work -- had a little uploading problem, but it finally posted. Cool technique, Holly. Here's my Frosted Spring Window.

I'll be back after work to comment.

Did you do the shading around the rose on the cardstock or the vellum? Or both? TIA

I did the shading around the rose on the back of the vellum. I haven't tried it the other way, so not sure how that would show through

Holly, what a fun technique. Thank you!!! I spent more time looking for my vellum, that I never use, than I did making the card!!

I've tried twice, after getting home late and doing all the weekly chores.
First time, my vellum was too thick (the one I mostly use is really more like cardstock) and it didn't really work.
So then I found some thinner vellum with a pattern printed on it - but even after heat-setting and an hour's rest time, my ink smudged. It's too late for me to try again tonight, so I'll just enjoy seeing what other people have been creating.

This was a fun challenge, thanks so much for the technique. Here is mine it is frosted even though it didn't scan that way. I even glittered the center of the flowers from the back side.

Aww, Sabrina! I am so sorry you're having a tough time with it. I had the same issue with the first time I tried it. I learned quickly that the fast drying ink is a must. Even with the stazon ink, I had to let it dry for over an hour.

Perhaps you'll get a chance to try again some other time. We would love to see what you come up with!

Hugs!

Holly, you really challenged me today. I'm someone who rarely uses vellum. That I had to look for my vellum for a long time this morning is proof of that. I can't believe I made 2 cards using this technique. I like them both, but I think I am partial to my butterfly in blue.
