My son is a big sports fan and ever since he was 4 yo (now 17) he has watched both the winter and summer olympics. He has for the past 6 years DVR'd the olympics and keeps them for months protected so they do not get deleted. What a better way to bring us closer together then to be VSN hostess using the olympics. I wanted to choose an olympic sport that was new to me...I didn't even know that a biatholon existed for winter sports.

As this sport is a two part sport so is this challenge. It is the Chalk Board technique and the tutorial by Beate Johns can be viewed HERE
So my challenge to you is to join me in creating a card that has the chalk board technique.
Something to think about while designing your card:
1. The white craft pad is like the snow that these men and women cross country ski through
2. The chalk used with your dauber is like the bullets they shoot from their rifles. (that is the trick to this technique don't rub your dauber make quick movements to cover the white craft pad)

This was a fun Challenge... not only did I think about the red Olympic gloves but I started thinking about the old familiar Ukrainian folktale that Jan Brett retold in her book "The Mitten" (http://www.teachingheart.net/mitten.html). Where a group of Animal friends came together and tried to live in a mitten that they found on the snowy ground. Much like we do when we all come together at the Olympics...
one of my favorite techniques, and not used often enough, thanks for bringing it back!

great challenge I haven't done this technique in many many many years so it was fun to pull out the chalks and give it a shot. the color is off on my picture because of the metalic paper on the background
Thanks for playing along. Thanks ms. mac for posting my challenge while I was down and out with a migraine.
I love all the cards that each of created and I am so glad that you chose to play

Well I gave up trying to get anything more posted last night! It was taking WAY too long and not always posting, so coming back tonight to get the cards posted that I did. Here is my chalkboard. I made it in black, white and craft and used it for double duty...for this challenge and one on StampTV!
I hadn't tried this technique yet, so it was fun to give it a try. May have to try it again. I was trying to get away from the winter theme that I had going on my first cards for the VSN, so this one is very bright...put on your shades!
