Default SU! Cardstock Reference Deck

Since I use a lot of non-Stampin' Up! designer paper, I needed a way to match up cardstock with my Basic Grey, October Afternoon, MME, etc. papers. Finally, yesterday I took the time to create a reference.

It works like a paint deck with each SU! color family as one chart. It took 1 1/2 hours to do this but that included creating the Word document that I've attached here. So you could probably do this in about an hour. I did leave a few blank as I had some colors I hadn't cut up yet, but most of mine are filled in.

See the photos and details on my blog at:

http://lisae-design.blogspot.com/201...ence-deck.html

The file I used to create the deck is attached below in Word format. I created it with Word 2002.

Wonder if it would work by printing the color values instead of using the actual cardstock. Hmmmmm. Great idea, thanks so much for sharing!

I love this idea!! I saw another thread where someone was asking about arranging colors in spectrum order so I modified the file to that order. I'm not sure which I'll use yet but I'm planning to do one this weekend!

Fantastic, what a wonderful idea! Thanks so much for sharing the template and picturs to visualize it. I better get busy doing my deck, that will save me lots of timing when trying to match designer papers.

I did a swatch book for SU and Bazzill using the color codes. Most of them turned out ok, but there were still a lot that were a little off. It took nearly 6 hours, including entering the color codes, sizing them to boxes big enough that I liked, printing them, cutting them and mounting onto chipboard for stability. Once I was done, I noticed the differences. Yeesh. I did it to save myself from using actual cs, but now I think I'm going to do it the scissors and adhesive way!

What a great idea! Thank you for sharing all of your time and effort. I currently use a system of just each SU color cut about 3x4 and then put them on a ring in my own order of the rainbow spectrum. But what I love about your version is that there is more than one color at a time you can easily look at against a designer paper. I have to open mine up like I'm playing cards (spread them out) to see more than one at a time. Great idea!

Now that SU! is changing their colors, I need to change the names on the cardstock deck. I think I will wait until the new In Color names are released (or leaked, I guess). That would be early June?. Anyway, I'll post an updated deck template on this thread and maybe start a new thread too when that is done.

I'm thinking of doing two versions of the deck - one with the colors in the SU! color families and another version with the colors in rainbow order. That way if you are matching a red, for example, you could have all the reds on one card, followed by the pinks, etc. I also have one for PTI colors that I'll post.

This is a great idea. I have always had to take my pattern paper to the file and pull stuff out and make a mess. This is an easy match and you can take it along to the store when you shop for other paper too.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Default NEW Cardstock Decks - August '10

Here's the NEW SU Cardstock Color Deck!

Photos here: Lisa E Design Blog: TIPsy Tuesday - Cardstock Deck Updated
(files attached below)

There are two versions this time. One with just SU! current colors and then one by color with retired colors too (i.e. all the reds together, all the blues together, etc.) The 2nd one is my favorite already. My version has some Papertrey Ink (PTI) colors included also but you could add or drop the names depending on the colors you have.

If you do the 2nd version, I recommend you print it out on plain paper, cut up your cardstock laying each piece on the paper in the correct place. Then rearrange to suit you, add or drop colors. Reprint on heavier white paper and then glue the strips down.

I used Tombow tape runner adhesive.

E-mail or reply with questions. Happy day!

I've updated this cardstock deck now that Stampin' Up! has brought back so many colors. I'm doing a new post here on Splicoast about it and also it is on my blog with the files and a video: Lisa E Design Blog: Cardstock Deck

Just thought I'd update this for anyone subscribing to this thread.
