Today is my last official day as your TLC hostess. I've had a great time over the past year and a half bringing you new and hopefully, fun techniques to help bump your craft up a notch and inspire you to try something that you may not have otherwise. My leaving isn't a bad thing because I have great news! Holly McMillen a/k/a Toy (Dirty Dozen alumni) will take over as challenge hostess beginning next week. Holly will do a fantastic job as challenge hostess and she already has lots of ideas lined up for you.
For my last TLC, I have a fun technique that I'm hoping you will enjoy. It's call the Van Gogh Technique and I first saw this technique on the Technique Junkies newsletter back in June. It's called the Van Gogh technique because it mimics Vincent Van Gogh's unique ability to create scenes, shadows and dimension through the use of brush strokes. I thought it might be fun to share this technique with you since it can be easily be accomplished with markers - any kind of markers. While it's easy to accomplish (wouldn't Vincent roll over in his grave if he could he me say that), my sample is no where near as artistic as the masterful Van Gogh himself could produce. I'm anxious to see what you do with the technique.
What you will need for this technique:
Permanent Ink
Markers
Stamps (those with larger open areas, suitable for coloring work best)
cardstock
Begin by stamping your image onto your cardstock using your permanent ink. Color your image just like you normally would, but there is no need to highlight or do any shading...that comes in with the "Van Gogh" part of this technique.
Now, using the markers with shades darker than those used to color the image, add multiple brush strokes. For more interest, you may even use contrasting colors using the same type of brush strokes.
Once you are satisfied with the look, you may finish your card as desired.

As always, don't forget to add you keyword TLC253 (no spaces) when you upload your project into the gallery.
Thanks again for your continued participation week after week and your support during my time as the TLC hostess. I look forward to playing along with you and Holly in the weeks to come.
Sounds interesting!
Thank you so much for all the interesting and fun techniques you have brought us over the last months. Many of them have entered my permanent repertoire (when I remember them!).
Be back soon with something to show for this one.
Lynn, you have done an awesome job as hostess. I have loved all the fun techniques that you have introduced us to. I know Holly will do an awesome job too. Thank you so much!!!!
Lynn, you have done a GREAT job as challenge hostess. My favorite was the washer necklaces. I made them for my nieces for Christmas. They were a big hit. Thanks a bunch!

Lynn, you've done a great job as challenge hostess. I have tried many different techniques thanks to you. I'll look forward to see what Holly has for us.
Wow! The past one and a half years have sure flown by! Thanks for getting me to try out new ideas. You have been an inspiration and hopefully I'll still see you here around SCS. :0)
WOW! You will be missed that's for sure...you have helped me in the past for when I would ever need assistance in not understanding some disrections. I will miss that. But, I loved all the different techniques and getting me to do things outside of my comfort zone. Good luck and hope you drop by and say hi. I am sure Holly will do well too...We'll miss you!
Hmmm, the boys are still sleeping...I should sneak upstairs to play before they head outside to play outside in our snow that we STILL have.

Lynn, thanks so much for all the wonderful new techniques you have brought to this forum! I haven't had as much time this semester to play as i would have liked; so many times I would check out the challenge after receiving the email notice and wish I had the time to play! I hope to get to play with this technique this afternoon after shopping (people gotta eat). Looks like a lot of fun...love that VanGogh look!! I know you are leaving us in good with Holly taking over and can't wait to see what she has cooked up for us!! Thanks again, Lynn! You've been an awesome hostess!
Lynn, Bless you for all of the great techniques you've found for us. You've enriched my stamping life and forced me to grow in ways I never dreamed of. Holly, welcome to leading this forum. I know that you will continue to make us grow in ability and love of what we do here. Lynn, don't be a stranger, we still want to see you here showing us your talents.
Blessings,
Sue

DroooooooL! You are too brilliant, Lynn! Your samples are pure art to me! This has to be THE coolest technique challenge EVER.. You've been an amazing technique challenge hostess. I second lovely Dawn's emotion that you'll be missed (but I'm sure Holly will rock in her own unique.) Even though I haven't been able to keep up with all the challenges, you've been a BIG inspiration! Thanks!

We certainly have enjoyed you as a challenge hostess Lynn. I confess that I have sometimes been afraid , overwhelmed, or just too lazy to try something new. I have been thankful and it paid off when I did do the challenges. I hope we still see you around the galleries a lot; we would hate to lose you entirely. Thanks so much for your service and cheerfulness while doing it.
No way could you get rid of me that easily...lol. I was around a long time before I became the challenge hostess...and plan to be around a long time to come!
