Mornin' stampers!!! Have any energy left to stamp after VSN rocked the house this weekend???? It was a blast being a Diva Hostess this round, but boy is it hard to pick winners....there is sooo much TALENT around here!
So in 'regular' spotlighting, most of the image is not colored or is muted and the part in the 'spotlight' is colored or highlighted and becomes the main focus of the card. In reverse spotlighting, most of the image is colored with the spotlighted part mostly NOT colored. On mine, I just colored in the heart because THAT is what I really wanted the viewer to focus on....I wanted them to feel the love and feel welcomed.
I look forward to seeing all your creations!
As always, if you have questions, please ask. If you have suggestions, please share! When you upload, please put TLC46 in the keyword section when you upload, and then post a link to your card here in this thread.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us STAMPIN' !!
I've never done either one of the techniques and this will be fun to try! And it looks like I'll need to join in on the fun for the next VSN I see!!

This looks like lots of fun! I've never done spotlighting... let alone reverse spotlighting! Wish I could try it now, but I have to work for about 7 more hours before I can go home and stamp.... bummer!
Here's my take on it - I guess "Send a Celebration" has been done - sorry - we were stampin at the same time! Too fun! I thought it would be fun to do a spotlight within a reverse spotlight and make the little heart pop.
It's taking me awhile to get going today. I finally finished mine. I've never done spotlighting before, and I did a little different take on it. Instead of using a line image, color-in stamp, I used a bold image, so it gives a completely different look. Here's my reversed elegance. A fun technique.
This is much nicer to look at than the regular spotlighing which I had only done once and didn't like it. I love Melody's idea of using a solid stamp too.
I think I have enough energy left after VSN to give this a try! I'll work on it tonight after the girls bedtime!
I really like the look lacyquilter achieved spotlighting using a bold stamp, so I thought I would try it that way...so here's my card. BTW, congrats, lacyquilter, on the grand prize!
Hey Beth, that is an interesting challenge. I wasn't sure I had the energy to stamp again tonight, but I made myself do it, because it was "different." I had this old Stampin' Up! stamp that a friend gave me (not even sure of the name), and thought it would be a perfect choice for this technique. It was way too time consuming, though. Got my message crooked, didn't like the ribbon, blah, blah, blah . . . but here it is, nonetheless.

Great challenge! I started over 3 times and still wasn't able to complete the goal of what was in my head. My card ended up showing the masking technique more than reverse highlighting. Will try again tomorrow, it's too late tonight. Image still pending at 10:30MT.
You all have such cool ideas! After looking at most of yours I realized I had done mine completely wrong!! Tommorrow I will try it again the right way.
I originally made this card for January VSN using punches, but I forgot to upoad it to my gallery. So I decided to use it for this challenge and add the reverse spotlight. I think it added a really nice touch! I like this technique - thanks, Beth!!
My TLC46 Reverse Spotlight card. I combined with this weeks CC44.
This is my 1st spotlight card. I liked Beth's with the tag so I tried the same method. Thanks Beth for the great idea. Nancy
My DD, Lynsey, saw my card from this challenge and wanted to try it herself. She chose this Precious Moment stamp and used the Blender Pens for the first time to color it in. When she finished, I showed her how to scan it, resize it, and upload it to hers and her sister's gallery - 2MommysGirls.
Check it out!:p //www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=201683&cat=4712
Oh my gosh, I am such a moron! I spent 2 hours on this card (which isn't all that great anyhow), and then realized when I was almost done, that I did regular spotlighting! D'oh!
I'll have to try again!

I have had this card in my mind all day - then after dinner I rushed to get it done. Then it took 4 hours to get it scanned, because the scanner pooped out. I combined it with the sketch challenge for this week.
