For those of you who have one of these, do you like it? What do you like about it? Do you wish you had gotten the other one? My understanding is that the only difference is size...900 is 9" and can do a whole sheet of paper, the 510 is 5". Whatcha all think?
It really depends on what you plan to use it mostly for. I personally have the 900 and am happy with my decision. I like to run an entire sheet through and then die cut shapes right from the "adhesive" paper. The only thing I find is not so friendly about it is if you just want to run one small item through it; you end up wasting some of the runner. You need to put multiple items through at the same time or larger items.
I have the 510, as well as the "little X" version of the Xyron. I've never had a need to stickerize (sure, it's a word ;) ) anything as wide as 9". Regarding Heather's comment about cutting die cuts from the adhesive paper, my Sizzix doesn't accommodate anything wider than about 5" anyway so the 510 works well for that purpose.
One really good non-crafty use I've found for the 510 is mailing labels. When I ship via USPS Priority Mail, I use their online shipping label program to print the mailing label. I trim off the extra paper, then run the label through the Xyron to add adhesive to it since you're not supposed to tape over the delivery confirmation barcode.
I have a Xyron 850 which was given to me. I also have the 250. I like the 850 for large projects but would really like to get the 510 for things that are in between. I find that alot of times I could use the 510 instead of using the 850. Usually I'll save my things I want sticky on and then do it one time through my 850. Unless you plan on doing full sheets of paper, I say get the 510.
I have both, but have never used the 900. The 510 pretty much gets the job done for everything I've needed it for. I've also used the 150 to mount punchouts & letter die cuts.
I have the 510 and the "X". I got the "X" first to see if I even liked the product before I invested more money in a larger machine. I'm pleased with my 510. I'd recommend you get the 510 first (or even the "X") to see if you would need the larger machine.
OK...so I think I will get the 510 for now! And if I find myself needing whole sheets laminated or stickered, I will send em to my friends with the 900! Hee hee! As for the sticky on vellum, I heard it works...I will try it out later and let ya know!
