Default TLC233 Tri-Fold Pocket Card {8/10/09}

Good morning Technique lovers. It's good to be back and in the regular swing of things. Today marks my one-year anniversary of hostessing the Try a New Technique challenges. Can you believe that it's been a year already? How time flies, huh? Wow!

A big thank you goes out to Beth (Showmestamper) for filling in for me while I was away for a short vacation. I can see you all enjoyed her projects very much, and what great samples I see in the gallery!

I have a fun project for you today and if you love pocket projects, you are going to be thrilled with today's Technique. I first saw THIS POST and was intrigued with it, but I wanted to make it out of cardstock, rather than felt, and to make even quicker work of the project, I modified it from three pockets to two.

I have created a pictorial-step by step file for you which can be found HERE. I'm keeping my fingers cross that everyone will be able to view the document. It takes just a second to fully load. You can print it out, or you can enlarge the file at its location to see everything more closely. I'm totally excited to see what creative ways you will find to dress up this project.

To view photos of my project sample: Click HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

To view the gallery of creations using this technique - CLICK HERE.

Be sure to add the keyword TLC233 to your project when you upload them...we want everyone to be able to see your spectacular work.

HINT FOR NEXT WEEK: You will need some water color paper, a Krylon Leafing Pen (found at Michael's, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, or any craft store) and color wash (or you can make your own from re-inkers and water). Intrigued?

Oh yes, I do like the look of that. And I've just washed the last floor, so I am all ready to go . Tidying my craft room can wait - it would only look the same after making this anyway, LOL.

Just to say I had to make my pockets slightly narrower than Lynn said - 3 1/4 " wide, scored 1/4" in from ONE side only, as she describes. I've checked with her - she's at work at the moment and can't double check, but suggested giving a heads-up if anyone else is having trouble getting it to fit.

I noticed that in the photo, she has scored at 1/2" and that is what I did after it wouldn't fit on the card. Worked fine after that.

I'm done. No inserts yet, because I honestly haven't a clue what they will be yet.

This looks like so much fun, thanks for the challenge! I hope I have time to do it today. I might not get to it for a few weeks though. Thanks for altering the instructions to fit better with paper. Blessings, Lela

I went with this method due to the problems of compatibility with using a regular PDF format. I'm sorry you're disappointed.

Thank you Lynn for the fun project. I did struggle a little with the measurements. I struggled even more getting it uploaded. A gallery moderator kept moving it into the TECHNIQUE SPOTLIGHT double pocket gallery. TOTALLY different cards. Thanks for letting me vent!!! I hope you will check out my little card because I really did like how it turned out.

Happy Anniversay - You picked a great technique today to celebrate with.
I enjoyed making this project but had trouble with the 5" x 2-7/8" piece. It was too long and stuck out from the base so I cut some off to fit. Maybe I didn't score it deep enough, although I thought I scored it at 1/2".

Here is my entry:

Hi Lynn!
Happy Anniversary! This is so cute and I can't wait to make it! I did end up having to transfer this to a Word doc to print b/c the program wasn't compatible with my home or work computer. Other than that, the new program is a cool tool that I can use for other things! Thanks for always inspiring us each week and helping us to think outside of the box! This will have to wait until my off day on Thursday but I can't wait to try it! =)

I just got a leafing pen last week too - I've always just used something like the Pilot goldpens up till now for edging. So I am curious to see what we will be doing.

When you click the download button, are you choosing an option? such as a pdf or a word document or you can just print it.
