It's August already, and that means back to school for a lot of folks! This week's technique is an adorable backpack, just in time for the big first day of school.
You can find the directions in our 'resources' section: Backpack Box
When you upload, please select the gallery "backpack box" under "Boxes" and use the keyword TLC232.

P.S. Hello old friends! Good to be back for a week! Thanks Lynn for posting for me last week when I was supposed to be posting for you! LOL
Hey Beth...........this is just perfect for today's challenge. My second oldest granddaughter is on her way to Ohio University today with my daughter to register for her fall freshman classes. I've been looking for a special "something" to put some spending money in when she moves into the dorm in Sept. This will be just perfect.
Now I have to see if I have some OU greenish paper in my stash.
Back later !
Tina

I started making it. I cut out the template and was trying to follow the directions. When it said to score the top flap at 1" and then at 1 1/4" I did that but it didn't match the template. Any suggestions as to which is the correct one. I would hate to go further and have to start all the way over.
Darn! I don't have any ink to print the template, so I'll have sit out on this one. Will check out your creations though!

Drats that work thing!! I've been wanting to make one of these...guess I'll have to do it later in the week (crossing fingers that that means tomorrow!!)

Hi MariLynn,
I just printed the template, and I see what you mean about the flap. I guess I would go with the markings on the template. Or maybe don't score the flap until you have the rest together to see what would work best.
I'm not planning on making one, but printed just because I was curious!
They are really cute... I just don't have a use for one that I can think of. Oh, I have a neice who will turn 7 in September... maybe I will make one!
Good Luck!

Cute idea. Looks like it'll take some time. I'll have to try later today.

These are so much fun! I didn't decorate mine because they are for little boys and I like them simple
I have to make more, I'm thinking for my daughter when she goes to bday parties, she's a teenager and usually does gift cards. This way she can include lip gloss, nail polish or some other cute little things.
What a great idea! And all of you have done a wonderful job with the challenge. I have a question. When I went to print the PDF template files I noticed that one of them was set at 58% and one was set at 47% - is that just for on screen viewing? Or when you print the templates are they smaller than they actually should be to use them? TIA for any help.

That might explain why I was having trouble matching my template up to the directions. In the directions it said score at 1" and againd at 1 1/4" but my template showed the score lines as being at 1 1/4" and 1 1/2".
It was a Bank Holiday here yesterday, and we went out to visit my aunt.
But I really wanted to give this a go - so here it is. Something to do as I tried, and tried, to get my PC working again. It's in the Bag
I am such a dork.. saw all the back packs in the gallery last night but couldn't find a template.. (dork me didn't realized this was the challenge!)
Got the PM though and now I found her.. just working my way backwards! LOL
I'm starting a new job at a new school on Monday. Had lunch with some of my new co-workers today and made these "Back to Work" backpacks for them (filled with chocolates, of course!).

Awww.. your backpack is soooo cute! Plus it gave me an idea! My daughter is leaving to go back to college in a couple of weeks... I'm gonna make her one with Polka Dots! She loves polka dots. Your "spots" gave me the idea... thanks!
