Being from New York, I had a lot of Italian friends who had grandmothers that didn't speak English and none of them were less than 100 years old. I had a "cooking lesson" of sorts on how to toss a salad and make this fabulous, tasty dressing from scratch by one of these old gals and my hands will never be the same after she slapped them so many times from me grabbing the wrong ingredients! I don't speak Italian and the only words that I learned that day were the naughty ones.
So in remembrance of Agnese, which actually means "gentle" (ha!), we're going to make her tossed salad.
You are to make a card in lettuce hues. That's right, lettuce colors only. This means variations of green, but remember in Spring Mix, there is deep purple/red leaf lettuce, and your neutral has to be beige. Agnese's hands were old, but not frail, so I thought that using the crinkled card stock technique would be fun to remember her hands by. Since she didn't speak English either, your sentiment has to be in Italian, which can be computer generated and using an English to Italian translation website.
Your salad should have the following ingredients only:
1. Lettuce colors only, variations of green/red leaf lettuce with beige neutral.
2. Crinkled card stock technique.
3. Sentiment must be in Italian.
You can have fun with this one. I certainly did! I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

This was a simple, yet fun challenge. I hadn't tried this technique before and it's a great way to add depth and texture to a card that doesn't require any special tools!!!!!
Sorry all. I just got back my internet like 15 minutes ago and had to scramble to get here. I can't fix the links as I didn't make the original post but I'm sure that Cobi or one of the other chefs will.
Oh, great challenge. I too grew up new a lot of Italian people new Westerly Rhode Island. I know all the Italian naughty words....but I will be sure not to put them on my card. lol Love the "real" Italian cooking. We buy about $200 of Soupie at a time and have it shipped to Georgia. People are always asking us here where we got it, they want some. Off to make my challenge submission.
Oh no, I don't know how to link to the forum threads! I've just been uploading like I always do!!!!
This might help.
If you want add a hyperlink, this is how you do it:
Open your gallery and open the card you want to link. Highlight the address of that page (the "http://www ...") and hit "copy."
When you post or edit your thread or reply, hit the "Go Advanced" button.
Type the word that you want to be linked to the tutorial, such as "tutorial."
Highlight that word or phrase.
You will see the various buttons at the top under "Message:" - click on the one that has a little world with a change link in front of it.
Where it says "please enter the url of your link," paste the url you copied earlier. Be sure to make sure you don't have two "http://"s at the beginning of your url. If the "http://" is highlighted when you paste in your new url, it should be fine. But, it's a good idea to double check.
Then, hit "OK" and your hyperlink will be linked to the word or phrase you highlighted in your text, such as the word "tutorial" in this post.
You can change the colour of your fonts using the buttons at the top too. Your hyperlink will automatically show up in bold type, but if you want it show in a different colour as well, just highlight it and change the colour.

Glad you were able to get back to us Cindy. Cobi is getting the links fixed.
On a sad note...Walter Cronkite died.
Oh wow, not to hijack the thread or anything. He's the very first anchorman I ever remember. I watched him when I was a little kid, so he must have been over a hundred! That is very sad Robyn. Thank you to you and Cobi for covering for me to get this started. When it gets real humid, we always have internet problems.
Your oldest has my first name. I'm curious about your motivation to name her Kyra? Care to share?
