What is CAS?
CAS is an acronym for Clean and Simple.
There are different ways people view CAS. It is very subjective. There is no list of rules that will fit everyones personal definition. The following are possible guidelines, only. Please do not feel afraid of playing in the CAS challenge or debate with yourself if youve created a CAS card. If it is a CAS card to you, put CAS in the keyword box.
1. Clean: the design is uncluttered with lots of white or open space. Simple: having a clear focal point without a lot going on to detract from it.
OR
2. simple in design regardless of the number of embellishments or how long it takes to color, stitch or to use a special technique
OR
3. can be copied and mass produced fairly quickly usually without a lot of coloring, layers, embellishments, tools and/or techniques
This week we are having a technique challenge: Paper Piecing
Paper Piecing uses patterned paper to add color and patterns to line images.
You can find a tutorial here.
Uploading: Remember the keyword is without spaces. Use a comma between keywords with a space after each comma.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!

What a great challenge! I've never done any paper piecing, but I've wanted to try it, so this will be just the nudge I need! I won't have time tonight, but I'll definitely play later this week.

Sorry that I missed your email. One of my cats has been very, very sick. We almost lost him early this morning. It wasn't until now that I thought to check my email. :(

Would you believe I have never paper pierced before? (Please, put the rotten tomatoes down ladies!) Today's CAS challenge gave me the perfect opportunity. I am glad I finally gave it a try! It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, I was so sure my hands weren't steady enough to cut smoothly without the affixed image looking choppy. You never know if you don't try right? ;)
HERE are my cards. The one on the right with the cupcake might be too embellished to be considered a CAS, IDK, let me know...
Thanks for a fun challenge today Jen! And thank you to everyone who takes the time to look at and comment on my cards.
It's good to be back making a card for the CAS challenge. I've been away for a while housesitting at a friends house and I'm really enjoying being back in my craft room! Thanks for another great CAS challenge Jen - and hope your kitty recovers soon.
I needed an anniversary card...LOL! Confession time, though, I didn't start out thinking about the anniversary card...just remembered in the process of making it!

Thanks Ruth. Kitty is at the vet for a couple of days. He was showing symptoms of severe low blood sugar. Even the vet was shocked that his blood sugar was sky high. A mystery at the moment. But he is safe hands. And as bad as it sounds, I can get some sleep.
