Anyway, I know how to tie a bow from a lenght of ribbon in my hand, and I know how to do cheater bows by placing the tied bow on with a glue dot, but does anyone know of any video tutorials showing how to tie a bow while it's around a card?

I usually take a piece of ribbon about 12 inches long....wrap it around the card and just tie a bow. I do have to tweak the ribbon a lot to get it to look nice, but it's as simple as that. HTH
It does take practice...like anything else, but it really is easy once you've done it a couple of times. And, using more ribbon than you actually need gives you the flexibility to 'tweak' the ribbon so your bow looks nice.
When you tie the bos make bunny ears and then go the opposite direction you would normally go. Like right over left and then while you are pulling them twist your riggon so the nice side of the ribbon is showing.

Sometimes I get better results by wrapping my ribbon around the card, and taping it down where it wraps around the card. I cut it so there is a little overlap, and I place the overlap where I want the bow to be. I then tape the two ends of ribbon together with a small amount of overlap. So- so far I just have a length of ribbon wrapped around my card, with the raw ends meeting in the front of the card, and taped together..
I then take another piece of ribbon, and knot it around my taped down ribbon, and tie a bow, and trim the ends. I make sure to tie it over the exact spot where the 2 ends of the first ribbon overlapped. So basically, I wrap a length of ribbon around my card, then I use another piece to tie a bow around the first piece of ribbon. That way, I do not have to worry that I am tying my ribbon too tight, or too loosely around my card. You could also tie a couple bows down the length of your wrapped piece of ribbon. Or, you could just knot the ribbons and trim the ends instead to tying a bow.
I tie the bow using the ends of the length of ribbon. Then I cut the loop in half to put around the back. But this technique is really only good if you're layering cardstock. Otherwise you end up with the raw adhered ends inside of your card.
right over left...then make bunny ears...tie left over right. Do this with the card facing upside down...when the bow is tied...it'll be in the right direction. If you are going around the entire card...bring the two ends around and tie as above...if you are layering cards...you can make your bow with a shorter ribbon...cut the middle and tape long ends under your layer.

If you put a little bit of adhesive on the inside of the card behind the ribbon, it helps to hold it in place when you are tying the bow (and keep it from sliding down out of it's appointed location). I've also used a round punch to nip out the tiniest indentation on each side of the card to make a "groove" to hold the ribbon in place. And yes, absolutely tie it upside down -- the tails always want to come out the top, so if you tie upside down, they come out what will ultimately be the bottom!
I use a punch to make grooves also. I add some double sided tape to hold the ribbon in place on the opposite side of where the bow will be. After wrapping the ribbon around the card, I find where I want the bow. I then put a small glue dot UNDER the left side about 3/4 inch from where I want the bow. This is the only way I have found for me to keep the ribbon from being to loose after tying the bow. Works for me every time. HTH Sandy O
These are great instructions! I have one other problem though and that at getting the ribbon tight around the card. By the time I have the ribbon tied in a bow it is much too loose on the card. :"(
make two small holes close together where you want the bow to be (large enough for the ribbon to come up through, but small enough that you don't see them). Lay the ribbon around the front of the card and bring around the back. String the ribbon "tails" through the holes and lay the front ribbon in the between the two "tails". Tie as instructed above...be sure to pull the "tails" tight before tieing. This will ensure that your ribbon is tight, and it looks kind of cool from the inside of the card. If you don't like the inside of the card once the ribbon has been tied...put a small embellishment where you made the holes. If you are hiding the back with other layers of cardstock...then just tie the bow off the card and cut the ends to go around the top (or more than one) layer of cardstock and tape down. HTH.
Sometimes, I get a think piece of chipboard, the same size as the layer I'm putting ribbon/bow on. Make it on the chipboard, then slide off and slide on the layer.
To make a bow, I don't wrap the same as we do our shoes. I wrap the left side. It does take adjusting but that's what is good about tying on chipboard...my card doesn't look over-worked. I must say that AmazingGrace never posts and over worked card...lol
