Default Cuttlebug plate bowed

I love my cuttlebug, but in using the cuttlebug dies, my top plate has bowed a little. Some of the dies are just so hard to go thru and I am so afraid of breaking my handle. I am using only the cuttlebug dies. Is it normal for one of the plates to bow. Can I break my handle by forcing the die to go thru?

I am wanting to purchase the Spellbinders nestabilities, and now am afraid to use them in my cuttlebug because I am afraid they will also ruin the plate, being as they are not a cuttlebug product. Any answers for me? Thank you. [email protected]

Yes, they will bow, which is why you should rotate your B plates with each use - flip over, change which is on top and which is on bottom of your sandwich, rotate head to foot, every which way. They'll flatten back out as you rotate them. HTH!

ETA: your bug will also loosen up the more you use it. I use Nestabilities all the time, as well as Sizzix Bigz and Quickutz - no problems whatsoever!

If the sandwich doesn't want to go through the opening, DO NOT force it! I was at a CB class yesterday. 2 ladies were sharing a CB and they broke a 'C' plate (they were borrowing the CB from their friend-the instructer. With the die they were using, they should have been using 2 'B' plates. 'B' plates are available at Michael's, Joann's, etc. I would suggest you get a package of 2 to have extras in case the one you are using breaks. I threw a 'B' plate away because it had bowed so much it 'popped' when it went through and the sides sort of flipped up. I didn't want it to shatter so just for my peace of mind, I just started using a new one. My replacement 'B' plate is really marked up but I was better about flipping it and turning it around when I used it.

Have fun with your cuttlebug. You can use all kinds of dies, textured plates, nesties, etc. in this cute lil guy!

Out of curiosity, where does one obtain a new C Plate? I have never seen them at Michael's or ACMoore's.

I've never seen 'C' plates in a store. My friend and I combined our order for new 'C' plates at Joann's online store. They were on sale ($7.69 apiece) but I don't how long the sales will continue. Because our order was over $25, we got free shipping. They should be here this week.

my plates are bowed a lot. I use them a lot with the CB and have no problem. I was afraid that they will break any time few months ago and both new B plates, and still haven't opened them.

What code did you use for the free shipping?

I saw a bowed "B" plate this weekend that almost looked bowl shaped. The owner of that plate still uses it without a problem, but none of the rest of our group would touch it. She said it still worked fine and would continue to use it until it broke.

Good advice! I have 2 sets up plates - one for the ef and one for dies. The die B plates are very bowed so I will try this.

Does anyone have a good recipe for getting a nice embossing edge on nesties? With the bowed plates it is getting harder and harder to stick enough stuff in there to get the edge embossed once removing the C plate.

Maybe the switching will help.

Mine have just recently started to bow after 2 years of usage, and my extended plates started to bow after only a few passes thru my machine...I feel better that I'm not the only one and will "rotate and flip" as you suggest, makes sense! Thanks for the post!

The B plates are so cheap when they go on sale at Michaels. I go thru them like crazy. Last week all the papercrafting section seemed to be on sale for 50% off. I bought three new sets for only $4.00each. I love to keep them on hand.
blessings.

I just ordered a C plate from Overstock.com. I paid $2.95 in shipping and sometimes you can get free shipping.

I flip my 'B' plates over everytime I use them. Seems to keep them fairly straight. I also saw a 'C' plate the other day at Mikes here in Canada so they must still be stocking them.
