Theme: Backgrounds
Limit: stamps
Were you like me as a newbie stamper? I loved to collect image stamps. I had lots of great stamp sets, but my cards were very plain. It wasn't until I found SCS that I realized what was missing from my cards... backgrounds! I stamp on a limited budget, so my collection of backgrounds has been slowly growing. It's so hard to be patient!
So, today's challenge is to create wonderful backgrounds for your cards without background stamps. Backgrounds you can't use include any stamp set that is (or would be if it was in the current catty) in the BG section of the catty.
Cardstock & ink: any
Embellishments: any
Techniques: any that don't require BG stamps (ex: spotted BG can be done without square stamps if you have spots.)
Have fun! Here are some samples to get you thinking.
Oh, I wish I had time to play but I'm getting ready to leave for a swap this weekend!! The samples are awesome, and the challenge is a great idea. I think a challenge like this is the reason why I have my sets of Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Background Basics, and Petite Patterns! Because I didn't have many full-size BG stamps! Thanks for the challenge Jen! Keep 'em coming!
Jen, thanks for the fun challenge! Looking forward to seeing everyone else's backgrounds.

Jen, I really enjoyed this challenge. I now have several of the large background stamps and turn to them so much of the time. It was nice to put my thinking cap on and come up with a lovely background using one of the images from the set I chose to work with. Great challenge.
Thank you kimilou for pointing me in this direction! I've been wanting to participate in all the challenges, but I just got started stamping, so I don't have much to go on. This one is perfect for me!
Here's a sympathy card I made this evening for a friend.

Sorry Rox. I forgot to check my PM box after VSN. Pretty smart to find me here... sorry it took so long to see it though. I've been here on and off. I've been pretty sick. I stamp and cruise the gallery to keep my mind off feeling crummy, but I don't stay long. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Sent you a PM... it's available, now!
