rumor or true? SU! going to 1 catty?
I read that SU! is going to 1 catty starting in June is that true? I was looking at a bunch of blogs this am and saw it but for the life of me can't find it after my DD used my computer and accidentally closed the page.

I haven't heard that but it would make sense if sales are dropping off....producing two catalogs is very spendy. ;) I do like getting my new catalog fix twice a year...as do my customers.

It would make good sense in this tight pinch our country is in! I sure hope that they do...

TRUE, except that the new catalog comes out in July rather than June.
They announced one annual catalog, 3 mini catalogs that will last for 4 months each, with new hostess sets introduced in each mini, and 2 Decor Elements catalogs a year.

Ahhh!! LOL
I would think it would make more sense to have the first WHOLE year one start in January when sales are always really low.
I know...it's always been a summer switch when they were on one year...but it was so confusing since we had 06-07 in colors/cattys and then 07-08's...it would just be nice to call them 09....and 10...and so on.

According to the information my demo got - it looks like a go! I hope so it makes more sense especially from a demo point of view - they can buy more to showcase without worrying it will retire in 5-6 months! And from a customer point of view it makes spending a bit easier to spread it out a whole year instead of just 5-6 months - depending on the release of the catty!
starting july 2009
2 decor elements per year
3 minis per year - each lasting 4 months - there will always be a mini
and mini will have new hostess sets

oops sorry I got the month wrong :(
But I do have to say that I'm not a demo and I'm impressed that SU! seems to be responsive to their customers desires and the economy. Lately they have been coming out with stuff that is so "in" and on target and I assume that will continue with their minis - since that was one of the reasons they gave to going to 2 cattys in the first place.
So if they read this board - thanx SU!

Now if we could get CTMH to scale back to one book a year it would be less expensive for everyone.

That is awesome! Even though I loved getting 2 catties to look at, the time seemed too short. Plus I never knew what was on the dormant list.

I know! I love the excitement of getting new catties, but boy it gets pricey and sometimes difficult to figure out how many catalogs to get at once.

Oh this is great news! I found that by having 2 catty's there wasn't as much new product (or at least it seemed) than when they had 1 catty. I like the excitment of 1 catalog a year. Awesome!

HA!Something tells me this WOULDN'T be a motivator for SU.. after all, they WANT us to buy all at once and not 'spread it out' across a year! ;)
I know I'm in the minority but I actually liked having two! Double the fun! I just loved that they were keeping it fresh all the time! I get sick of the same ole samples! ((I guess this means I'll be spiral punching my cattys again since they'll have to last a whole year.)) Bleck.

when a new catalog comes out i like to be able to pour over and savor it and let it sink in before i make purchases... with just one i don't feel so rushed.
i really like what is being offered in the SAB.
and the new occasions mini is chock full of stuff i want... there seemed to be a lot of stuff in it. i listed 9 stamp sets and the scallop oval punch on my 'wish list'.
i hope they will still be able to 'keep it fresh' with the minis.

I'm with Ibirus on this one, for selfish reasons.lol. I LOVED getting 2 a year, I would sit at the end of my seat waiting for the next one, including mini's. I like the fact that the catty's separated the season's so that my spring/summer wasn't chalk full of winter/christmas. I also felt that SU offered more accessories with having the 2 catty's. The fact that the paper will now be offered for a full year I can see myself buying more at my LSS. Now on the other hand, 1 catty makes sense for economic reasons but that's about the only positive I see. Regardless, SU is my first love and I am faithful to her

I think that is a SMART move, and good for the enviroment. When I received the latest catalog, I felt like I was just flipping through lots of pages of "oh, I've seen that before" just to get to the pages with "now THAT is new!"

I'm not a demo but I think this is great news. Like others, I never felt I had enough time to get what I wanted. And, it was horrible with the hostess club I was in.... we had 10 people and I missed being hostess for the WHOLE last catalog.

It's very exciting that there will also be new hostess offerings in each mini catalogue, so it's another way to keep things fresh for hostesses and Club members!

I realize as a demo, this is good news. And I understand the logic and economy of the idea. But as a customer, I liked the 2 cattys. Back when it was 1 catty per year, I had ordered everything out of it that I wanted the first few months so I was bored with it after that. And the next 6 months I would only order cardstock. I realize the minis are supposed to make up for the lack of a second big catty, but they always seem so limited and there is very little that I have purchased out of them. Well...either way I will still be an SU customer though. I probably just won't be ordering as much.
