Tracy Harp - LodiChick
My inbox showed a confidential note from Julie and I gasped; loud enough, apparently, to make my husband come running. He stood over me when I opened the invitation to join the Dirt Pile. He got verklempt and I laughed! He had heard me talk about the famed DD and knew what an honor it was to be asked (and, that I secretly hoped I would be someday!). I, on the other hand, laughed out loud because of all the times to be asked, it had to be in the middle of a move! How do you say "no" to an invitation you only dreamed to receive?! You don’t! So, here I am.
I live in Upstate New York at the moment, just outside Niagara Falls, to be exact. I say "at the moment" because I have moved more times than I can count. My father was career Air Force so I was born in England and spent many of my elementary years living in Germany. My mother is German so we had many relatives nearby, making it a wonderful experience. In my teenage years we settled in Lodi, NY, hence my user name, LodiChick. It is a very small town in the heart of the Finger Lakes region and was a great place to grow up. I moved to Rochester, NY to attend college. After graduation I got a job working for a mental health agency, supervising a group home for mentally ill adults. During that time I met my husband while volunteering for a youth ministry called Young Life. (I just have to give 3 cheers here for hubby--he’s my biggest fan and supporter!!) Since getting married 13 years ago, we have moved 8 times. My husband felt called into full time ministry and worked for 11 years as a youth pastor in 3 different churches. He just took an assignment as an associate pastor at a new church, thus our most recent move. I am mother to 2 wonderful boys, Joshua age 11 and Kaleb age 9. I have been fortunate to be able to work at home since my boys were born. I am also an SU demo and have enjoyed that for 2 1⁄2 years. My other joys are cooking, baking, and entertaining friends and family.
My mother knits, cooks, sews, makes dried flower arrangements and is an incredible gardener. I was the teenager who wanted nothing to do with her attempts to teach me any of those things. Can you say "FOOL"? So I did not really do many crafty things until I was an adult. I have dabbled in many different things, but nothing really grabbed my attention for long. I was invited by a friend to her Stampin' Up workshop and went only out of obligation. (I know many of you know exactly what I'm talking about, LOL!) I ordered a couple of things but when I realized I had no idea what to do with them, I called up a demo in my area and booked my own workshop. I quickly began buying everything I could get my hands on. I stumbled upon SCS and that was the beginning of the end!! I spent hours pouring over the galleries and forums. I participated in several of the weekly challenges. Part of why I signed up as a demo was because that gave me access to even more great stuff on this site! This place inspires me all the time. And, it is filled with some of the best people on the planet! It is a gem of a website and I am grateful for it. That is why I could not say "no" to Julie. I am so thrilled to be able to give back to this community that has given me so much. Thank you for the opportunity. I look forward to giving you my best!
