Makiko Jones - MakiJ
Waskom, TX
When I called Lydia and found out I was asked to be one of the Dirty Dozen, I was so surprised and couldn't believe it was really happening to me because there are so many talented stampers in Splitcoaststampers and I am inspired by them daily. I wish I could describe how the conversation with Lydia went that day....but I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember it very well. I think I kept saying to her "Really? Really? Oh my goodness...really? " LOL.

Hello everyone - I am Makiko Jones, aka MakiJ, at Splitcoaststampers. I was born and grew up in Tokyo, Japan until I met and married my husband Troy, 15 years ago today (yes...July 15th is our wedding anniversary!) When I grew up, I was always surrounded by arts and crafts. One of my favorite memories was watching my dad paint and coloring in my coloring book with crayons and colored pencils. I also spent a lot of time playing Origami and Kirigami like many Japanese girls did. So, paper crafting is just an extension of what I did in my childhood.

After I came to the U.S, I lived wherever the Air Force told my family to go until Troy was medically discharged in May 2008. Now, we have finally settled in Waskom, Texas with 2 children, 3 cats and 1 dog. Living in different places was a wonderful experience for my family and me, but I'm so happy that my moving life is over!!

Before I was introduced to stamping, I was a quite avid scrapbooker. However, when I went to my friend's Stampin' Up! workshop in the fall of 2004, I bought my first stamp set to make Christmas cards, and that was the beginning of my stamping journey smile I have never stopped stamping and making cards since that time. Besides stamping, being Troy's wife, and mom of two in my everyday life. I also love photography, playing with photo editing programs (it's the geek side of me), and taking trips to flea markets and antique stores. I hope I can start scrapbooking again for those photos I've taken.

Splitcoaststampers has always been a resource for inspiration since I became a member. I was a lurker for a long time and I didn't even start uploading my cards to SCS gallery regularly until after I became a Fan Club member a few years ago. Yep, I put myself out of my comfort zone, LOL. Now, look at me...I'm on the Dirty Dozen!! I'm still pinching myself even when I'm writing about myself. However, I believe God has a plan and he says it's my time to give back something to Splitcoaststampers.

Thank you SCS and all of SCS members who have left your kind words in my gallery! You guys are my ROCK!!
