Lee Ann Barrett - whippetgirl
St. Louis, MO
This must be a dream. This can't be real.
On the day after Christmas I received a message from Lydia asking me to call her regarding a problem with uploading a photo. I was brand new to SU Creative Crew and figured she was being nice, helping out the newbie. After discussing the issue, she said she had one more question. Well, you can guess what that question was, but I was completely caught off guard. I think our conversation went something like this-
Lydia-”Would you like to be on the Dirty Dozen team?”
Me-”I'm sorry, what did you say?”
And of course, Lydia repeated herself.
I am not completely sure of what I said after that, but I think it included things like “You must have the wrong person”, “I'm not good enough” and “Nobody even knows me”.

Lydia tried to convince me that, indeed, she did have the right person. I think I tried to convince her otherwise, but I am now grateful that she won! I walked around in a daze for two days; even the dog noticed when I put water in her food bowl! The fact that I am part of an amazing and talented group of women known as the “Dirty Dozen” is starting to sink in. Lydia, I am so grateful for this opportunity!

For those of you who don't know me, which is probably most of you, I am Lee Ann Barrett, aka “whippetgirl” at SCS. Like many of you, my journey started when I was invited to a Stampin' Up party in 2004. I went overboard and bought every stamp imaginable, or so it seemed! However, the stamping frenzy ended as quickly as it began when I abandoned stamping for my first papercrafting love, scrapbooking.

For whatever reason, I picked up a stamp set about 1 ½ years ago. Needless to say, I was a bit behind the stamping times, and had a lot of catching up to do. Styles and supplies had changed! I joined a Stampin' Up stamp club to fuel my new passion (Hi, Trevis!).

Since last winter I have been exploring SCS website (which has more to offer than one can imagine). I have been participating in challenges, watching tutorials, and growing my crafting stash!

I live in St. Louis, although I grew up in the 'burbs of Chicago. I live with my 20 year old son and rescue greyhound named Bella. I am a school nurse, a single mom and a Christian. I am an avid scrapbooker and I love photography and travel. I would rather be in a pair of hiking boots than high heels and the mountains call my name!

And my SCS name? Prior to Bella, the Goofy Greyhound, I had two sweet rescue whippets, hence the name, “whippetgirl”.

I have been and continue to be inspired by so many in this stamping community. It is more than just a place to learn. It is a place to share, to encourage and to be encouraged. I hope that I can live up to the “Dirty Dozen” legacy; I will certainly give you 110%.

Thank you, Lydia for this amazing opportunity!
