Joan Ervin - joan ervin
Hi everyone!! I’m Joan Ervin from Temple, Texas. OMG!!! I can’t believe I’m here introducing myself as a Dirty Girl...WOW!!! When I got the *confidential* PM from Jenn Balcer I thought she had sent it to the wrong person. I must say, I am absolutely thrilled and humbled to be invited to the SCS Design Team and it didn’t take me more than 30 seconds to accept. I did wait about 20 minutes before answering her PM because I didn’t want to seem too eager....don’t tell Jenn! I also needed to explain the dirt pile to my DH and tell him why I wouldn’t be able to cook supper for 6 months...*wink*!!
My DH George is my best friend, lover, and cheerleader. We are blessed with one daughter, Holly, hbrown on SCS, and 4 sons, Brian, David, Steve, and Matt. We also have a son-in-law, John, three daughters-in-law, Laura, Christina, and Stacy, 11 awesome grandchildren, and my dear parents. We all live within one hour of each other so family get togethers are a big part our life! Originally from Ames, Iowa, I was a hairdresser for 15 years before I decided to enter nursing school after our move to Texas in 1982. In my 25 year nursing career I have worked in many areas of nursing, however, my heart will always remain with labor and delivery...I love caring for mamas and babies!! Both my DH and I decided to retire early in 2006, however, I lasted about two months before going back to work part time. I taught nursing clinicals (Labor and Delivery) for the University of Mary Harden Baylor and helped as a nurse educator in the Nursing Education department of the hospital I retired from previously. My Mother had heart surgery in March and since her recovery was long and difficult, I decided to retire again. Good thing because Jenn’s PM came just two days later!! My DH thought he was going to get fed when I finished working but alas...Jenn to the rescue!!
Crafting has always been a big part of my life....my interests include quilting, tole painting, cross stitch, gardening, sewing, reading, antiquing, HGTV, watching old black and white movies, eating chocolate, and drinking Diet Coke.....not necessarily in that order. My stamping interest started because I wanted to have some bonding time with my DD, who had just become an SU! demo. Three years and about a million dollars later, we are still bonding!! Our styles are so different.....the perfect MIM duo. Holly is a no frills kinda stamper and I add everything within reach to my cards. She gets excited when I make a crisp clean card and I get excited when she adds frills....such silly girls!!
I am so excited to have the opportunity to create beauty for you and help make SCS an awesome place to be! I am blessed to have lots of wonderful SCS friends and am looking forward to meeting many more Stampin Sistahs!!!
