Dude!! Bet ya didn't expect to see my face here!!! I could not have been more surprised myself!
Jenn shot me a pm asking if she could call to talk to me about something, even though it was Father's Day. My first though "oh man! What did I do wrong?!?!" LOL!
Then when Jenn called she said "So since LOST is on hiatus for the summer....you've got some free time on your hands, don't you?" ('sup Losties!!)
And you know - I totally didn't get it! Then when she explained - well.....I just could not have been more surprised! I mean, seriously - the Dirty Dozen?!?! I think that is every rubber stamper's dream gig, right?
So here I am! I'm 30 years old and I've been married to my husband, Matthew, for 10 years. We met in college and were married just over 1 year after we met. We have 3 fabulous boys: Andy, Alex and Adam. I love being a SAHM, although I do not know what it will be like when they are all in school this year!
My husband served as an Officer in the Army for the first 7 years of our marriage. After his return from a year in Iraq - we decided that life was not for us anymore. That's when we settled in the DFW area of Texas - where it is freaky deaky hot and my allergies are hideous! But you can wear flip-flops 10 months out of the year. Do you see my love-hate relationship with Texas?!?!
I began stamping in October of 2003. I think that God had a hand in the whole experience as it came along at a time in my life that I needed something for me. I had just had my 3rd baby (at the time they were 3, 1.5 and 4 mos) and I needed an outlet! My sister (mamakimberly to y'all!) showed up with stamps and said we were gonna make cards. The rest is history. Shortly after, my husband left for Iraq. When he left I had one rubbermaid tub of supplies. When he returned a year later.....I was a demo and had about 5 rubbermaid tubs! My main requirement when we moved to Texas, was that our house had a room just for me and my stuff. And it does - my no kid zone!
I started out making cards. I've dabbled in paper scrapping, but it was a labor of love. I never enjoyed it. About 2 years ago I discovered altering - and I love it! I've got a closet full of stuff to work on now. Just last summer I began digital scrapbooking and I have taken to that so much more than paper. I don't know why, but I really like it! I've even begun to design a few digital things. Honestly - before stamping I had never really done anything artistic in my life. I hadn't taken an art class since elementary school. I'm still amazed that I have any talent at it at all!
I discovered SCS through a cardmaking yahoo group waaaay back in January of 2004. This really great cardmaker named Beate kept telling us about a great stamp site. I'm sure some of you might know her!
And I've been here ever since!
