Chantel Tenney - Chantel
Torrance, California
I've been a big fan of Splitcoaststampers, and the Dirty Dozen in particular, for a long time, but it never realistically occurred to me that I might someday be asked to join. So maybe it was the shock taking over when it only took about 5 minutes for me to reply to Julie's invitation with a big "YES!" It probably would have only taken 2 minutes, but my hands were really shaking and it was harder than usual to type! I'll admit that a mild form of panic set in later that day... but now I just feel very excited and honored that I've been welcomed by this super talented and creative group!

My name is Chantel Tenney - just Chantel here on SCS. I'm 29 years old and my husband and I will celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary next month. I'm a stay-at-home mom to our two little girls, ages 6 and 3. My family is really my greatest joy, especially when my 3-year-old has had a nap - we're really a happy family then! My husband's under-graduate schooling has moved us from Arizona to Utah and then back to Arizona...and now USC dental school has brought us out to sunny Southern California. We've lived here since August of 2003 and the balmy weather and our proximity to Disneyland and the beach have been sheer torture, let me tell you. wink But now my husband is almost completely finished with school (do a happy dance with me!) and after he graduates in the spring of 2007 we'll move our family back to Arizona where we both grew up. And we'll finally be out of an apartment and into a home with my very own washer and dryer and room for my stamps (I hope!)

Like many here, stamping isn't my first experience in creativity. I have lots of memories of my mom and grandmother doing creative things together: quilting, crocheting, knitting, painting, firing and painting ceramics - my mom even hand-made these really cute puppets and had me and my 5 brothers and sisters perform a series of puppet shows for our fellow primary kids at church. (At the time we were not amused, but now we love to look back and laugh!) I think those experiences really stuck with me, and I've always been intrigued by all things crafty. Later, after leaving home for college and then getting married, most Saturdays you could find me wandering the aisles of some type of craft store, but nothing has stuck with me as much as stamping and paper-crafting. I was introduced to this obsession over two years ago when I picked up a Stampin' Up! catalog at a local craft fair. You probably know how the rest of the story goes... I've been hooked ever since. I remember thinking that I was going to save so much money by making my own cards and scrapbook accessories - well, okay, so we all know how that really goes!

I became a Stampin' Up! demo in January of 2005 and found SCS a few months later. I can still remember how nervous I was when I decided to upload my first card! Looking back through my gallery, it's obvious to me just how much my stamping has improved and believe it or not, it's nice to realize how much it can still improve. I have this site and all of the fabulous shared talent here to thank for that - so thank you Splitcoast, for all of your hard work and for this invitation - I'm really excited to be here!
