WOW!!! Really? What did you say? Did I hear you correctly? Really? OMGoodness!!!!! OMGoodness!!! It is such an honor to be here – I cannot believe this is happening and I’m still pinching myself.
I love SCS, this community is special in so many ways – with so many wonderful stampers and crafters sharing their art, providing inspiration and sweet encouraging words, and offering their friendship to all. SCS is like my Cyber home – with so many beautiful and truly special friends who I look forward to ‘seeing’ every time I jump online.
This new journey started with a PM from Lydia. But no time to call back now – have to finish packing. After a day of travels and layovers, meetings and training, finally in my Hotel room with a meal and no silverware LOL – I remembered – oh yeah, I need to call Lydia. We chatted briefly about the recent storms and resulting devastation and talked about some other things when she very casually mentioned something about the Dirty Dozen. What? What did you say? I was sure I’d heard something incorrectly – so many things went through my mind. Then I think we giggled, I squealed several times and I’m sure I kept repeating myself but have no memory of what I was saying LOL…
My name is Audrey Hiltke. I was born in San Francisco, California and spent the first 12 years of my life in that beautiful city and the nearby South Bay. In my teens our family moved to the East Bay, and then later further north to San Joaquin Valley. It was there that I met the most adorable, charming, funny, and intelligent man – the love of my life – Mark Hiltke. He was in California on business from New Jersey, and as the story goes, knew well before I did that we would one day marry! We now live in Virginia with our two precious gifts from God – our rescue dogs Bella the White Boxer and Fritz the Terrier Mix (both 3 years old in July, and over 70 lbs!), along with our two very special and elderly kitties Lucy 16 and Smokey 15, AND lots of family nearby.
Over the years Mark and I have lived in South Georgia and Chicago, and it was during one of those loooong Chicago winters that I truly fell in love with stamping. That summer a coworker invited me to a Stampin’ Up! workshop, where besides the stamping stuff, there’d be other interesting people from work, good food and treats and a general fun time. I went for the social aspect – little did I know that first workshop would one day land me on the DIRTPILE !!!!!!!!!!
I soon became a Demonstrator, primarily for the discounts, discovered Splitcoaststampers, and in 2006 posted my first upload. Every card I make is made for someone special in my life, and each must pass the DH approval test (of course DH is so sweet, no card has ever failed LOL)! But I do remember those occasions when his feedback was – “oh you’ve gone to a new level with this one!“ And sometimes I would even think – oh goodie – maybe now I’m one step closer to the Dirty Girls.
So – THANK YOU Lydia for all that you do for SCS and all that you do for all of us, and thank you for this opportunity. I am beyond thrilled. I’m so looking forward to playing on the dirtpile with so many sweet, inspiring, encouraging AND amazingly talented stampers – you all ARE the BEST – Thank you!!
