America Kuhn - Cards_By_America
West Point, NY
WOW!!!!!! Am I really here in the Dirt Pile??? I can't even begin to express how thrilled and honored I am for being selected to join this terrific group! This is seriously humbling!!!! Thank you wonderful Lydia & Splitcoaststampers for this grand opportunity.

My name is America Kuhn. AKA: Cards_By_America on SCS. I was born in Mexico, raised in Chicago. I was given the name *America* because I was due to be born on July 4th. I am a US Army Veteran, a Military Wife and a SAH-Mom to 4 children. Our home is that where the ARMY takes us, and so we have made homes around the globe. We move every 1-3 years --across the country or, across the oceans. Wherever we end up, it's in all those places that I manage to make a little crafting corner for myself.

This past summer, we moved and traveled across the USA from Seattle, WA to West Point, NY. My DH is a US ARMY Officer and this is his next duty assignment. Upon arriving here, we had to quickly get settled and endure a farewell as Daddy deployed to the war in Afghanistan. He is expected to be gone an additional full year. Its a big sacrifice we make as a Military family, but it is the call of duty. We have to learn to adjust & find strength.

Life gets very hectic without Daddy- but I stay super busy with my 4 children, their schools, their sports homework and activities. When there is time for ME, I enjoy making cards. It is a very rewarding hobby that provides great supplemental therapy. I am blessed as it has connected me to some terrific friends and SCS along the way!

My crafting journey began in 2002 after being introduced to scrapbooking by another military mom while in Germany. I was intrigued just watching a scrapbook come together as it told a story from start to finish. By that next year I accidentally discovered rubber stamps while searching for Hawaiian themed scrapbooking items. I stumbled upon a Hawaiian rubber stamp store and it was right there and then that I fell in love with the concept of rubber stamps. (I now have an endless stamp collection.) LOL!

I began making cards and found Splitcoaststampers.com in 2008 while surfing the internet. I immediately joined and soon became a FAN club member. As I gained courage and developed stamping skills, I finally got brave enough to upload my very first card here. LOL! After a few months & lots of encouragement from my family, I finally applied for design teams and was lucky enough to get picked up by wonderful companies along the way. That experience brought me great joy.

Thank you splitcoaststampers for being the greatest inspiration and the MOST encouraging place for me!!! These next six months as a DD girl promise to be challenging but also exciting. I look forward to giving back to this wonderful community by creating pieces that will hopefully inspire. I'm still in disbelief and a nervous wreck, but I promise you I will do my best!
